I was excited to attend the Masterclass tasting featuring Prosecco DOC at the Quebec Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITHQ) in Montreal (Canada) on October 4 2021. Organized by the Italian Trade Commission for the 2021 Milano Wine Week, it was my first in-person tasting since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020. Hosted by wine author Guénaël Revel, we tasted six Prosecco which are available at the SAQ.
Prosecco is very much in fashion! This sparkling Venetian wine has a lot going for it. Delicate, light, easily approachable, accessible, it's perfect come apéritif time. Of the six Prosecco we tasted, two were rosé – something new available at the SAQ. Glera is the dominant grape to be used in Prosecco (must contain at least 85%) and Pinot Noir will be added for the rosé version.
Can you pair Prosecco with food? Of course! Why not try it with shrimp and/or seafood pizza?
